Mount Rainier drew a dramatic shadow across the sky as a winter sun began its ascent this morning in Longbranch.

“That is an amazing sky,” said my lovely bride, while we both were getting ready for another week.

The goofy golden doodle lay in bed unimpressed.

Oh well.

It is currently 40 degrees and cloudy and the high will barely top 50, according to the national Weather Service. Rain is likely after 10 a.m., and certainly through tonight, kicking off a wet week.

A great start Monday morning, but expect rain for the remainder of the week. This is a view of Rainier's shadow from Richard Hildahl's property on Filucy Bay. Photo courtesy Richard Hildahl
