Sunrise Sortie in Longbranch

A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter flies over the tree tops of Henderson Island early this morning.

Our quiet morning routine was interrupted by a U.S. Coast guard helicopter flying low over our house — I’m assuming coming from Olympia and headed for Henderson Island.

The goofy goldendoodle did not know what to make of the intrusion, but my lovely bride was not too pleased.

She did perk up a bit when told of the weekend’s forecast: sunny and temperatures expected near 80 degrees.

It was a gorgeous sunrise as a layer of clouds filtered the morning light hitting the eastern slope of Mount Rainier. All in all, not a bad way to start the day.
