Weather report: Thunder only happens when it’s raining

Rain will continue today and through the rest of the week.

Good morning Longbranch.

A rocking evening was had by all — young and old — at the Tacoma Dome Monday night with Fleetwood Mac. It was good to see such an eclectic collection of rockers come out to hear a good pop-rock band from the 1970s doing it up on the big stage.

Well done Tacoma. You were almost too mellow, said my lovely bride. Never even caught a whiff of the chronic until the start of “Gold Dust Woman.”

Did she make you cry
Make you break down
Shatter your illusions of love

The original foursome of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and the effervescent Stevie Nicks can still bring the house down. Although it felt a little like old friends getting together for a jam session at times.

“I just want to thank both of you guys for taking me along for the ride,” a reflective Nicks tells Fleetwood and McVie in front of about 8,000 appreciative fans. “They were really looking for a guitar player — that would be Lindsey — he just happened to have a girlfriend.”

NIcks’ voice is still as powerful as ever — reverberating inside the dome, letting everyone know a rock goddess was in the room. Her sweet acoustic rendition of “Landslide” absolutely bringing this Tacoma Dome crowd to Bic lighter bliss.

Fleetwood Mac did not disappoint, playing old hits just like old times. “Go Your Own Way,” “Save Me,” and “Don’t Stop”.

Crazy Mick’s drum solo during the first encore was like watching an old uncle jump on the dinner table at Thanksgiving dinner.

“Are you with me?” he exhorts the crowd.

Trust me Uncle Mick, we were. We really did not want you to stop either.

If you wake up and don’t want to smile,
If it takes just a little while,
Open your eyes and look at the day,
You’ll see things in a different way.

Don’t stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don’t stop, it’ll soon be here,
It’ll be, better than before,
Yesterday’s gone, yesterday’s gone.

Rock on Tacoma. Thank you Fleetwood Mac for a rousing evening.

Meanwhile, rain will continue today and through tomorrow. It is currently 45 degrees and the weather geeks are saying our high today will be a chilly 55.
