If you are looking for something fun to do tomorrow, the schooner Adventuress will be open for tours in Gig Harbor at Jerisich Dock from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will go on a three-hour sail around the South Sound at 3:30 p.m.

This beautiful boat was built in 1913 as a luxury yacht, according to the website soundexp.org. The slender-hulled, gaff-rigged schooner was launched at the Rice Brothers’ Yard in East Boothbay Maine. In 1988, the restored schooner was turned over to the environmental education leadership program, Sound Experience, as a floating classroom. The following year, Adventuress was named a National Historic Landmark.

“It gives schoolchildren from around the Puget Sound the opportunity to experience first-hand life at sea,” said Megan Addison, educational director for the Port Townsend-based organization. “They will learn seamanship” and the importance of preserving marine habitat in the Puget Sound through environmental instruction.

Group sails are available for three- to -six-day cruises. For more information call 360-379-0438.
