A place we call home

A homestead roughly 18.5 miles south of the Burley Lagoon is where Meg, Maddee and I call home. We have lived here since the summer of 2009. It was a move to satisfy our dream of living in the country.

Longbranch, Wash., is an unincorporated community on the Key Peninsula in Pierce County. Located at the tip of the peninsula, it is a beautiful slice of old Washington with the Longbranch Marina at its heart. It was named after a seaside resort town in New Jersey. It was a stop on the Steilacoom ferry from 1934-’35.

According to USA.com Longbranch has 20.01 square miles of land area and 0.32 square miles of water area. As of 2010, the total Longbranch population is 3,784. Longbranch median household income is $45,319 in 2006-2010. Longbranch median house value is $246,500 in 2006-2010.

Our homested sits on the eastern edge of the peninsula about a mile-and-a-half from Devil’s Head, at the tip of the peninsula.
